Press Release - Drivers Jonas Report

The survival and continual growth & development of Exeter City Football Club as a community orientated professional Football Club can be attributed, in no small part to the financial and operational support that Exeter City FC has received from the membership of its Supporters’ Trust. To date, the Supporters' Trust has contributed in excess of £750,000 to the football club, a sum of money that has aided the clubs survival in recent times.

Following the release of the jointly commissioned Drivers Jonas report executive summary, and the recommendations therein, the Board of Society and Directors of Exeter City FC wish to restate their desire to seek a final mandate on the way forward from the membership of the Supporters’ Trust.

The decision to involve the ECFC Supporters' Trust membership within the whole process had been taken at the beginning of the commissioning of this report, and was taken jointly by both the boards in recognition of the debt owed by the Football Club to its supporters, and was undertaken in the spirit of being a fan owned Football Club.

Subsequent to the recommendation of the Drivers Jonas joint executive working group to explore the options to redevelop St James Park, the Board of Society would like to lay out the process by which the Supporters' Trust will seek a mandate from its members to proceed forward.

In the coming days the Supporters' Trust will undertake a mass mail out to the entire Supporters' Trust membership. This mail out will include details of the process by which members can vote on the way forward for Exeter City FC. It is also the desire of the Board of Society to provide, where possible, a cost neutral means of voting for its members and it is with great delight, that the Board of Society is pleased to announce the completion of an online voting facility. For all those not online, a postal ballot will be conducted.

The Exeter City Supporters' Trust is proud of the accomplishments of its members in recent years, and we are fully committed to working in conjunction with the Football Club to realise our long term aims and objectives. Together as a fan owned Football Club we are more confident than ever, that Exeter City will prosper at the heart of the community it serves, wherever this may be.

Latest on Grecian Trust

The Supporters Trust would like to thank the following individuals, their families and friends for the support given to the Grecian Trust Scheme, through their generous donations, some of which have been sold, or currently at local auctions and on Ebay, with much more still to be sorted and distributed for sale.

A financial update will be given soon and contributors will be informed on how well their items have done if they have so requested.

We have some interesting Car Window Stickers up for grabs as well, depicting the Devon Flag in Red, White and Black for only £2.50 which also includes postage. Go to Ebay and search for Username BARDONS to see all the latest items being sold for the Trust and supporters.

A special thanks goes to the flyers distributors as well, these are Adrian Hitchcock, Adrian Gibb, Tony Badcock, Roger Conway, Fran Jenkins and Andy Cole. So good to see so many Board of Society Members leading by example.

Please keep your donations coming in for they are very much appreciated, and don't forget, you can also make a return for yourself selling through the scheme, just so long as you donate a minimum of 20% to the Trust. We would rather have 20% of something than nothing at all.

Virtually anything will be considered, but please call Barry Sansom on 01392 214071 for confirmation to save you a wasted journey delivering items to the Trust Office, and don't forget, a local home visit can be arranged, (I take 2 sweeteners in my Coffee and I prefer a Rich Tea or Custard Cream biccy).

Many thanks to Tony Badcock, Alistair Yates, Alistair Young, Jim Eastment, Norman Shiel, Ian Jubb, Adrian Hitchcock, Denise Pratlett, Paul Bennett and Me for their donations. Must also thanks Roger Hamilton-Kendall for some packing materials as well, this really does save us some money.

ECFC Press Release - Pat Chambers

Exeter City regret to announce that Pat Chambers, who was appointed to the new role of Senior Commercial Manager within the Club during 2007, will be leaving us with effect from the end of January 2008.

Pat has made a valuable contribution to the further development of our business activities and has brought her skills and relationships to bear to positive effect. Unfortunately however Pat has very recently identified a potentially serious personal illness which, in the first instance, will require her to undergo exploratory treatment in the next few days.

Pat’s family and support networks are in the North East from where she joined us and she quite naturally wishes to be close to them to aid her through this time. We have been more than happy to release Pat from her responsibilities at the Club with immediate effect and she has already returned to her family.

Pat comments on her time at Exeter City and the changes in her life as follows:
“I would like to thank Exeter City FC - all the staff and the team of dedicated volunteers -for their help and support at this time. I have truly loved my time with the club and helping to contribute to the way forward. The club has an exciting future with a fantastic and professional team, players and management alike. ECFC invests in the future of the region’s youth through its dynamic centre of excellence, it is the envy of many clubs for its hugely successful Football in the Community programme, and has an exciting state of the art education centre around the corner. This is a time of growth and opportunity for the club and the city. I am sad to leave but will watch developments with interest, as a Supporters Trust and City Foundation member. I will continue to feel what is the heartbeat of the city and the affection of our supporter base for our community club.”

On behalf of the entire Exeter City family we convey every good wish to Pat for her current and future needs, and thank her for all that she has contributed whilst working for us. We respect her desire for privacy and the security of being close to those who know her best at this time.

We have put contingency arrangements in place already so that our commercial activities are unaffected. A proposal on the shape of the next phase of our evolution has been debated and developed by the Club’s Commercial Board and will be presented to next week’s full Club Board meeting for approval.
